The Roots of Firs Farm
The story of Firs Farm begins long before it became the community hub and wetlands we know today. Once a sprawling agricultural expanse, its origins are rooted in the natural landscape of North London, where its name echoed across the fields as a symbol of local harvest and environmental heritage. Over decades, this space has evolved from working farmland into a vital lung for Enfield, balancing its rich ecological past with a renewed purpose for the neighborhood.

The Journey
1920s: The Origins
Firs Farm began as a traditional working farm, deeply rooted in the agricultural heritage of the local Enfield community. Its early days established the foundational connection between the land and those who lived upon it.
2013-2015: Restoration Efforts
A local campaign led to the ambitious restoration of the wetlands. Over 500 meters of the Moore Brook river were de-culverted, bringing water back to the surface for the first time in decades.
2020: Environmental Legacy
The site became a thriving ecosystem, recognized for its role in flood management and wildlife diversity. It now serves as a key outdoor learning space for local schools and a sanctuary for migratory birds.
2024 & Beyond: Community Hub
The opening of the new community hub and café represents our continued evolution. We remain committed to keeping Firs Farm a place for connection, conservation, and local wellbeing for generations to come.
